XPO, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has been awarded the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) ”Responsible Transport & Logistics“ label at the premium level by the independent advisory group EthiFinance. This is the second year in a row that XPO has received the award, which is the first of its kind dedicated to the road transport and logistics sector.

XPO received the “Responsible Transport & Logistics” label in recognition of its commitment to creating a working environment in line with its values of safety, inclusion and innovation; its initiatives to reduce environmental impact; and its corporate governance policies.

The premium label recognizes the company´s culture of corporate responsibility and its proactive policy of ESG progress. EthiFinance created the awards on request from the French National Road Transport Federation.

As a signatory of the French CO2 Objective Charter, XPO stands out for its commitment to the environment, as evidenced by the company’s numerous investments in multimodal transport solutions as well as its implementation of technologies to optimise fuel consumption or use alternative fuels. This year, XPO Logistics also distinguished itself with the launch of LESS® (Low Emissions Sustainable Solutions), an innovative solution to help its customers significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. With LESS®, XPO replaces diesel with HVO biofuel in its fuel distribution network at the level of consumption associated with the transport of their products. HVO is a fully renewable fuel that can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% and fine particle and NOx pollution by up to 30% compared to conventional diesel.

This solution has already been adopted by Amaury Sport Organisation, organiser of the Tour de France, which named XPO Logistics its official transport partner in 1980. In 2022, A.S.O. reduced its carbon footprint by 158.2 tons of CO2 thanks to the use of 49,000 litres of HVO by the XPO fleet.

In addition, XPO Logistics has made an order for 100 electric vehicles, reinforcing its commitment to alternative solutions to diesel fuel and more sustainable transport.

An environmental approach with a concrete social and corporate commitment

XPO Logistics places people at the centre of its concerns and attaches great importance to the well-being of its employees. This priority is reflected in the company’s health and safety measures, learning and development opportunities, and focus on working conditions. It also is evident in the many initiatives the company has taken to further equal opportunities, including partnerships with organisations that support the inclusion of disadvantaged populations or recruitment without CVs.

As a signatory of the Diversity Charter in 2021, XPO has made inclusion a high priority, and is taking concrete action to promote more women in the transport and logistics sector and to integrate young people and people with disabilities into the workforce.
