Award recognizes company’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions in Spain by at least 20% over the next five years

XPO, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has received the Lean & Green Award from the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Distributors (AECOC), underlining the company's strong commitment to sustainability through innovative solutions and management excellence.

This European award recognizes companies that demonstrate a high level of commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and continuously improving the sustainability of their logistics operations. For XPO, this certification is an important milestone in its commitment to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices in the logistics industry.

Massimo Marsili, managing director - Southern Europe and Morocco, XPO Logistics, underlined the importance of the Lean & Green Award: "This award recognises the great work the XPO team is doing for the benefit of the environment and society. Through our decarbonization strategy, we have committed to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 20% over a maximum period of five years, doing our part to make the logistics and transport sector more efficient and sustainable. In addition, we will continue to work closely with our customers to analyse, innovate and develop solutions and tools that will enable us to continue to implement sustainable practices throughout the supply chain. Ultimately, we aim to provide a quality service that is increasingly environment friendly".

XPO Logistics has implemented a sustainability programme encompassing all areas of its business. From fleet management and route optimisation to energy efficiency in its facilities, the company has implemented several innovative initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint.

Company investments in greener technologies include the recently launched LESS® (Low Emissions Sustainable Solution). This collaboration with Repsol provides a fuel using hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), which can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90%. In addition, XPO's fleet has incorporated P400 trailers to expand its capacity for multimodal transport services and further advance its sustainability goals. These trailers reduce emissions by combining road and rail from the Iberian Peninsula to key areas across Europe.
