XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, has announced a partnership with METRO Markets GmbH for last mile deliveries of heavy and bulky products in Spain, sold through the new Makro Marketplace. METRO Markets GmbH is a company of the wholesaler METRO and an affiliate of MAKRO Spain. The online marketplace is focused on the catering and hospitality trades, but is also open to all other businesses, as well as consumers. XPO delivers furniture, appliances, heaters, sunshades and other products too large for parcel delivery.
XPO's last mile solution in Spain utilizes 60 hubs in its less-than-truckload transport network and a fleet of more than 300 vehicles. The service includes optional assembly and installation of delivered products, as well as the removal and recycling of old products. Customers receive digital notifications sent through the WhatsApp app, with links to track shipments, reschedule deliveries if necessary, and view security information, such as the delivery vehicle number plate.
