Perscommuniqué | Madrid, Spain | 10 maart 2023

XPO, a leading provider of innovative transport and logistics solutions in Europe, analyzed the growing trends in demand for new professionals in the sector and shared the company's talent strategies at Logistics Spain, the international transport and logistics exhibition. Under the slogan "Your transport into the future", the second edition of Logistics Spain was held thisweek, from 7 to 9 March, in Guadalajara.

Elena Pérez, head of talent recruitment and internal development, Southern Europe and Morocco at XPO, took part in a roundtable discussion on the question: "Do logistics and transport need new professional skills?” The debate was moderated by Gabino Diego, CEO of Foro de Logística.

Pérez focused her speech on XPO's commitment to recruiting and retaining young talent and explained how the company incorporates young professionals into its business through initiatives such as the XPO Graduate Programme in Europe. She also addressed the importance of having a varied training offer in Spain, for example, through Dual Vocational Training (FP Dual), which combines classes in schools with on-site business experience, as well as university degrees.

"Attracting talent is one of the key priorities in our sector," said Pérez. "It is a dynamic, innovative and growing industry where the recruitment demand for professional positions is constant and diverse. However, this evolution needs to be more evident and widely publicized to young people entering the job market.

She also pointed out that digitalization, automation and sustainability are areas where the industry is transforming to meet future needs, creating demand for specialization in these fields. "At XPO we are developing training programmes together with companies, organizations, public administrations and educational institutions to attract the attention of young people. We want to open their eyes to the sector so that they can visualize long and rewarding careers".

Pérez also highlighted XPO's investment in employee training and development. In Spain, the company employs around 1,500 colleagues and indirectly generates more than 3,000 jobs. "For our company, continuous training is fundamental to our philosophy of quality employment," she explained. "We are convinced that this is a win-win approach that is mutually beneficial”.

XPO leads innovation in transportation services in Europe, including full-truckload, part-truckload, pallet and last-mile delivery. The company tailors its solutions to the specific needs of customers in a variety of industrial, distribution and consumer sectors, as well as global-scale events.
