XPO Logistics expands its logistics capacity in France to over 90,000 sqm for a major player in the automotive sector
Against a backdrop of profound transformation in the automotive sector, XPO Logistics, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has more than doubled its dedicated logistics capacity in France for a major French car manufacturer with an international presence in less than a year. For this client, the group now operates 92,000 m² of warehouse space spread across three sites. This expansion is driven in particular by growing requirements relating to the logistics of electric vehicle batteries and new European regulations concerning repairability, traceability, safety and the availability of parts.
From spare parts to electric batteries: a business scaling up
XPO Logistics now operates 92,000 m² of warehouse space spread across three sites in France, between Reims and Boisseaux (near Orléans), thereby strengthening its national logistics network. This rapid expansion illustrates XPO Logistics’ ability to mobilise the necessary resources and capacity to safeguard its clients’ operations and respond swiftly to their evolving needs.
Originally focused on the management of hazardous spare parts, this business now covers a much broader and more complex scope, notably including the logistics of electric vehicle batteries. The teams now manage several thousand spare part SKUs within a highly regulated environment.
This development reflects the profound changes taking place in the automotive sector. As European requirements regarding repairability, traceability, safety and parts availability become stricter, and with the rise of electric vehicle batteries, after-sales logistics is becoming more complex and strategic. XPO Logistics is supporting its client through this transformation by developing new areas of expertise and implementing solutions that ensure secure, compliant and resilient supply chains.
Expertise supporting more complex automotive logistics
This operation also demonstrates XPO Logistics’ ability to manage sensitive, high-value-added flows by combining operational security, scalability across its European network and sustained investment.
Laurent Kraffmuller, Vice President in charge of Contract Logistics at XPO Logistics – Continental Europe, said: “In an automotive sector undergoing rapid transformation, our role is no longer simply to manage logistics flows: it is to empower our clients to adapt quickly to new industrial and regulatory constraints. By doubling the capacity dedicated to this client in less than a year, we are demonstrating our ability to combine agility, operational reliability and long-term commitment.”
Contract logistics is one of XPO Logistics’ strategic pillars.
