XPO Logistics launches its Junior Talent Program, furthering company’s commitment to promoting talent in logistics
XPO, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, launched its first Junior Talent Program in Spain, providing internships to a group of six university students at the company during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Internship participants, who signed up for the program through their study centers or the XPO website, joined the Santander headquarters in October and will join the Madrid headquarters in November. Each was selected using Andrea, XPO´s Human Resources chatbot, followed by a virtual interview, a group dynamics session and a personal interview.
Internship participants are in their final year of studies in areas including Law and Political Science, Law and Economics and Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Business Administration and Management, Industrial Organization Engineering and Computer Engineering. Others are in their final year of Higher Vocational Training in Transport and Logistics and International Trade.
This initiative is part of the XPO Logistics commitment to attracting new talent to logistics by supporting their development and preparing the professionals of the future in a key and constantly evolving sector. Through the Junior Talent Program, XPO offers nine-month paid internships that allow participants to rotate among sales, solutions design, finance, full load, part load, global forwarding, information technology and operational excellence departments to gain a global view of the company. At the end of the internship, it is possible for participants to join XPO.
Mayte Galeano, human resources director - Southern Europe and Morocco, XPO Logistics, said: "Young people are our future, and in our ever-evolving field, we need to develop the human capital that will work and lead the logistics of tomorrow and meet the future challenges of our industry". Galeano also highlights the Junior Talent Program’s focus on enabling students to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-life business situations in XPO's offices, "with the opportunity to learn first-hand from top professionals in the sector as well as gain a 360º perspective of the processes of a leading multinational company, such as XPO Logistics".
Skills that XPO looks for in internship candidates include a high level of English, both written and spoken, with additional language proficiency valued as well. Also important are availability to travel nationally, or internationally in some cases, as well as a high level of proficiency in office automation and Suite 365, and good communication skills.
