Art Explora Mobile Museum brings Tate masterpieces to Liverpool communities in truck driven by XPO
Perscommuniqué | Northampton, UK | 29 maart 2023
XPO, a leading provider of innovative transport and logistics solutions in Europe, is working with Art Explora UK to tour the Art Explora Mobile Museum in collaboration with Tate and MuMo, bringing the joy of art to children and communities. The exhibition inside the mobile art gallery displays artworks from Constable to Henry Moore, along with many contemporary artists.
Specially trained XPO drivers are piloting the Art Explora Mobile Museum on a 10-week tour until 29 April, showcasing the artwork to school children, community groups and local visitors in locations across Liverpool, St Helens, Knowsley, Sefton, Wirral and Halton.
XPO teams also provide logistical support for the tour, from the physical movement of the artworks to the set-up of the exhibition space. XPO uses a new, state-of-the-art tractor unit with a low-emissions Euro 6-compliant engine, and the company’s service technicians maintain the latest on-road safety technology.
Frédéric Jousset, founder of Art Explora, said, “Art Explora was founded with the mission to make art accessible to all. The Mobile Museum is a wonderful way to bridge the divide between those who go to museums and those who do not. Art Explora is bridging this divide by taking art out to new communities and by creating encounters with art in unexpected places.”
Dan Myers, XPO’s managing director – UK and Ireland, said, “Art is central to our humanity; it transcends nationality and background. It influences the way we view ourselves, and our society and has the power to impact our emotions. This opportunity to improve the accessibility of art for so many people is a true privilege.”
This mobile museum UK tour is supported by Art Explora with public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England. MuMo (‘Mobile Museum’) has been XPO’s customer since 2013 in France, where XPO drivers transport mobile art galleries with dedicated tractors almost year-round. The Art Explora mobile museum went from Saint Mesmin in France to Runcorn in the UK thanks to the collaboration of XPO teams on both sides of the Channel. MuMo was founded by Ingrid Brochard, designed by matali crasset, with the support of the Fondation Daniel et Nina Carasso.
