XPO, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable transportation and logistics solutions in Europe, has announced the opening of a new site, located only 5 kilometres away from the centre of Alicante, in the Llano del Espartal industrial estate. The 5,000 square metres facility, with 33 docks, is the company's fourth transportation and distribution site in the Valencia region, along with two in Valencia and one in Castellón.

With this new site, XPO reaches 19,000 square metres of transportation and distribution surface area in the Valencian Community, which employs nearly 300 people throughout the region, providing direct and indirect jobs, and serves more than 750 customers. XPO's turnover has grown by double-digits in the last four years in the Valencian Community.

At the new Alicante site, XPO offers groupage and pallet distribution services, with more than 1,000 pallets moved per day, last mile and in-night deliveries solutions, serving customers in the omnichannel retail, food, industrial and automotive sectors, as well as large retailers. In terms of technology, the Alicante site is equipped with the latest innovative tools to provide the best service quality to its customers and prime attention to its transport partners, allowing significant progress in efficiency and real-time delivery monitoring.

The new Alicante site has the sustainability Leed Gold green building certificate and an outstanding installation of 100 solar panels 500W, which will achieve a reduction of around 40% in electricity consumption and a very high level of self-consumption, in line with XPO's commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of its logistics operations.

Massimo Marsili, managing director – Southern Europe and Morocco, XPO, said: "We are very proud to expand our presence in the Valencian Community. The opening of this site in Alicante represents a very important milestone in our objective to further strengthen the capillarity of our transport and distribution network in the Iberian Peninsula and to bring flexibility, agility and high-quality service to our customers in the region.”

We must continue working to take advantage, consolidate this inertia and transform it into new opportunities, economic growth and employment in the medium and long term".

Luis Barcala Sierra, Mayor of Alicante, who attended the inauguration, thanked "XPO for its commitment to setting up in Alicante, which highlights the strategic location of this area for logistics, distribution and last mile deliveries. From the City Council, we are working to generate the best conditions for the establishment of new companies and job creation that is materialising with the arrival in the capital of large logistics and transportation companies, in addition to the boost given to all the innovative and digital industry, along with the traditional sectors associated with tourism and the commercial industry”.
