XPO collects 3.3 tonnes of food for Spanish Federation of Food Banks
XPO, a leading provider of freight transportation services, has collected 3.3 tonnes of food in its annual charity campaign to support the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL). FESBAL will distribute the food, which was donated by XPO volunteers, among the 54 food banks associated with FESBAL in Spain.
Massimo Marsili, XPO’s managing director for Southern Europe and Morocco, highlighted the spirit of solidarity shown by the company’s employees: "At XPO, we are committed to helping those most in need. This is why our employees in Spain come together for FESBAL's annual campaign, which aligns with the social values of our culture. Today, it is more important than ever that we collaborate in support of solidarity campaigns like FESBAL to support as many people as possible".
Francisco Greciano, director of FESBAL's Technical Office, commented on the importance of civil society's participation to reduce the effects of poverty: "After three years marked by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the situation of people in need of food aid in Spain has worsened. Compared to 2019, many more people are unable to cover their minimum needs. During 2021, 1.35 million people received food from FESBAL, and 2022 ended with similar figures. That is why the collaboration of companies like XPO is essential to bring food to these people. At the Food Banks, we are grateful for the effort made by XPO to alleviate a problem of the society we all share".
