XPO Logistics, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has reached a key milestone by exceeding two million kilometers travelled by electric trucks in France. This result is a concrete illustration of the company's ability to help the sector move towards a more environmentally-friendly model.

In January 2024, XPO Logistics moved to the next stage of its strategy by ordering 165 additional electric trucks, on top of the 65 acquired in 2023. With more than two million kilometers already covered, and 230 electric vehicles in operation at term, this fleet is now the largest investment in electric vehicles for road transport in France. This commitment to sustainability and the transition to electric mobility is part of a pioneering strategy that relies on the mobilization of its teams, partners, and customers. It is aligned with their increasingly demanding expectations for environmentally responsible practices and innovation.

As part of this commitment, XPO Logistics has been awarded the French "Responsible Transport and Logistics" label at the premium level by the independent advisory group EthiFinance every year since its creation. At European level, the company has also been awarded an EcoVadis Gold Medal - placing it among the top 3% of the world's best-rated companies for sustainability management.

Bruno Kloeckner, Managing Director ―  France, XPO Logistics, commented: "These awards reflect our commitment to combining sustainability, customer-centric innovation and performance. We have already achieved our objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% ahead of schedule, and we are aiming for carbon neutrality in Europe by 2050. Thanks to a demanding roadmap and concrete actions, XPO Logistics is strengthening its position as a driving force in the transition to more environmentally-friendly logistics."

XPO Logistics is pursuing an ambitious strategy in France based on three pillars: reducing the environmental impact of its activities, being an employer of choice and acting as a trusted partner. As a signatory of ADEME's Objective CO₂ Charter since 2008, it implements concrete actions to improve its environmental performance. This includes in particular:

  • The development of a more sustainable fleet, including electric vehicles and vehicles running on gas and biofuels (B100, HVO).
  • The use of innovative solutions such as cyclo-logistics for last-mile delivery, where possible.
  • The adoption of a multimodal approach combining road, river, rail and maritime transport.

XPO Logistics remains committed to advancing sustainability in the logistics sector through innovative solutions and strategic investments, ensuring continued support for its customers' evolving needs while contributing to a greener future for transportation.
