Manutan, a major European BtoB e-commerce player specialising in the distribution of equipment and supplies to businesses and local authorities, and XPO Logistics, one of Europe's leading providers of innovative and sustainable transport and logistics solutions, have entered into a partnership. The aim of the partnership is to ensure a regular flow of goods between France and the UK while limiting the associated environmental impact by almost 90 tonnes of CO₂ per year.

Optimising logistics and sustainability: up to 90% reduction in CO₂ emissions

This collaboration is fully in line with Manutan's strategy to develop a more virtuous supply chain. Logistics flows between the Gonesse (France, Val d'Oise) and Verwood (United Kingdom) warehouses, representing two to three weekly lorry round trips. This cross-border route is part of the Connect Europe service, designed by the logistics company to ensure rapid and secure flows within Europe. Transport will now be provided by a fleet using the LESS HVO solution® (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) developed by XPO Logistics. This new-generation biofuel, made from vegetable oils or waste products such as animal fats and used oils, reduces CO2emissions by up to 90% compared with conventional diesel.

Following a test phase to validate operational feasibility, delivery times and environmental benefits, Manutan confirmed its partnership with XPO Logistics on 28 May 2025. Thanks to its strategic location in the port of Calais (62), the XPO Logistics platform simplifies customs and maritime formalities, secures flows and guarantees significant time savings, with around 600 lorries crossing the Channel every day. This optimisation enables Manutan to provide its UK customers with faster, more reliable deliveries, while considerably improving its carbon footprint on Gonesse-Verwood flows.

Contributing to the ambitious Paris Agreement target of zero net emissions by 2050

Manutan is accelerating its environmental transition in order to achieve its ambition of carbon neutrality for its direct and indirect energy-related emissions by 2035 (scopes 1 and 2) and by 2050 (scope 3). To achieve this, the Group has launched a number of projects, such as joining the FRET21 programme1 for its four French subsidiaries, with the aim of integrating the environmental impact of transport into its logistics choices.

For its part, XPO Logistics' development strategy fully integrates the CSR dimension, with the priorities of reducing the environmental impact of its activities while helping its customers to achieve sustainable performance, thus becoming a trusted partner. To help reduce carbon emissions, XPO Logistics has positioned itself as a supplier of multi-energy and multimodal solutions, offering its customers electric, biofuel and gas-powered vehicles, as well as river, sea and rail transport.

Gabriel Tellier, Transport Director of the Manutan Group, comments: "This partnership with XPO Logistics is a perfect illustration of the type of initiatives we are multiplying to build logistics that are both more responsible and more efficient. It is by seizing these kinds of opportunities that we are contributing to our goal of carbon neutrality, while helping to define the standards of the future.

Bruno Kloeckner, Managing Director, France - XPO Logistics, added: "Meeting the expectations of companies like Manutan, which are looking for concrete solutions to reduce the environmental impact of their logistics, is at the heart of our approach. With LESS® HVO and services like Connect Europe, we are putting innovation at the service of an immediate energy transition. This type of partnership shows that it is possible to combine environmental requirements with logistics performance."
