XPO expands service to customers in Morocco with the opening of a new office in Tangier
XPO, a leading global provider of freight transportation services, opened a new office in Tangier (Morocco), to expand service to customers in the metallurgical, automotive, textile and packaging industries, among others. XPO now has three offices in Morocco, including Tangier-Med and Kenitra, as part of its transport and distribution network of nearly 80 sites in Southern Europe and Morocco. The company has had a presence in Morocco for more than a decade.
The opening ceremony at the new, 500 square meter facility was attended by Alfonso Manuel Portabales Vázquez, Consul General of Spain in Tangier, as well as by some of XPO's largest customers in Morocco. XPO was represented by executives of the company’s Southern Europe and Morocco region: Massimo Marsili, managing director, Manuel Troitiño, regional director, Carlos Rivero, commercial director, and José Luis Capilla, operations director.
Massimo Marsili said: "Morocco is a key market for XPO. Our investment in this new facility reinforces the value of the service we provide to our customers in Morocco, and expands access to the innovative and flexible solutions we offer for the transport of goods between Morocco and Europe. We are once again demonstrating our capacity for growth, as well as our commitment to further developing our networks in Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Italy".
During his visit to Morocco, Marsili was a featured speaker at a roundtable discussion on the transport of goods through the Strait of Gibraltar at the Spanish-Moroccan Business Meeting of the Maritime, Transport and Logistics Sector. The event was organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Tangier and promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the Economic and Commercial Office and the Spanish Embassy.
In his presentation, Marsili pointed to the “more than 20,000 annual crossings that XPO makes through the Strait of Gibraltar, which makes us one of the leaders in the transport of goods through this channel”. He also highlighted XPO's “commitment to promoting new multimodal transport solutions that contribute to increasing Morocco's connections with Europe, as well as improving the transport of goods to and from Morocco”.
XPO is a leading innovator of transport services in Europe, including technology-enabled truckload, less-than-truckload, truck brokerage, managed transport, last mile and freight forwarding. The company tailors its solutions to customer-specific needs across a range of consumer, trade and industrial sectors and world-class events.
