XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of supply chain solutions, has added a new “points of interest” GPS-based map function to its XPO Drive XPO mobile app for truck drivers. XPO accelerated development of the software to help commercial drivers find truck stations and amenities that are nearby and operating, avoiding closures caused by COVID-19 restrictions. The app is available to both registered carriers of XPO’s transport network and drivers not associated with XPO.

The Drive XPO digital points of interest map displays the availability of amenities such as food, restrooms, shower facilities and other essentials needed by truck drivers. The app also integrates carrier operations with daily productivity tools, enabling drivers to become more efficient with layovers, traffic avoidance and other daily decisions. It displays load postings in real time on any mobile device, with details of origin, destination, freight type, timing and shipper, as well as special handling or equipment needs.

Luis Gomez, managing director, transport – Europe, XPO Logistics, said, “Drivers who are finding it difficult to locate available points of interest during COVID-19 lockdowns can rely on the Drive XPO map to make their lives easier. It was important to us to develop the technology quickly and support those who are on the frontline in serving our communities.”

The Drive XPO points of interest map is currently available in Spain and France, with availability planned in more European countries soon. The app can be downloaded from the iOS and Android stores free of charge.
