XPO Logistics Drivers Are Up to the Challenge of the Tour de France

Press Release | Lyon, France | July 19, 2018

XPO Logistics, a top ten global provider of transport and logistics solutions, has 55 experienced drivers traveling with the Tour de France, playing a crucial role in bringing logistics support to the event. By the time this year’s champion crosses the finish line, XPO trucks will have carried 360 tons of material over 3,350 kilometres.

The drivers for the Tour are selected by XPO specialists in transport events based on the criteria of engagement, safety and team spirit. Some have been supporting the Tour de France for decades, with one driver – René Pioche – receiving official recognition from Tour organiser A.S.O. to celebrate his 20th year.

Luis Gomez, managing director–transport, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “Our success in moving the Tour de France relies on our drivers’ professionalism, passion and commitment. They are behind-the-scenes heroes, delivering for 23 straight days of our own ‘time trials’ – helping to create an unforgettable experience.”
