XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, today announced the appointment of Massimo Marsili as managing director of its transport business in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Marsili has responsibility for the company’s transport operations and business development strategy in Iberia, reporting to Luis Gómez, managing director of transport at XPO Logistics Europe.

Marsili brings 18 years of experienced leadership with global companies, and a strong background in business development, sales, marketing, finance and international operations. Previously, during his work with Avis Budget Group, he successively served as managing director of the Western Region, director of the international mobility service, and EMEA president. He started his career at General Motors and General Electric.

Marsili holds a degree in business and economics from the Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”. Additionally, he completed courses at Stanford University and Harvard Business School in the United States on the subjects of business strategy and leadership in supply chains, organizational agility and digital and social network strategy.
