XPO Logistics Awarded CHEP National Transport Contract
XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, has won a major contract extension with CHEP France, a supply chain solutions company and leading provider of pallet and container pooling services. XPO will handle the collection and delivery of over 5,000 CHEP orders per year, representing about three million pallets, for automotive customers in France.
Timely deliveries from CHEP’s Moncourt facility near Nemours (Seine-et-Marne) are critical, as the pallets are used to manage auto parts packaging. The company’s decision to award its entire logistics operation to XPO builds on a longstanding relationship with XPO that covers central France from CHEP facilities in Veretz (Indre-et-Loire), Cercottes (Loiret) and at the Parcay Meslay site (Indre-et-Loire).
“We’ve selected XPO as our partner because of their experience in the automotive industry and their understanding our need to provide superior service for our customers,” said Michael Gierloff, director of transportation operations, CHEP. “We have similar business ideals, including a passion for innovative customer solutions and respect for the environment.”
The companies are working together to tailor additional technology solutions and deliver new services for the automotive industry.
Luis Angel Gomez, managing director–transport, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “We’re proud to have won the Moncourt contract with CHEP based on our expertise in providing just-in-time service backed by state-of-the-art technology systems. We look forward to continuing to add value to CHEP’s automotive supply chain while helping our customer grow.”
