XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, celebrated its latest investment in Brittany (France) with the launch of a new cross-docking platform for less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation in Pleumeleuc, 15 kilometres from Rennes. The opening event took place on 20 October 2017 in the presence of elected officials and local stakeholders.

The Pleumeleuc site commenced operations following the transfer of activities from a smaller site at Loscouet. An 85-person team provides service at the new, 4,500-square-metre platform and its 50 cross-docking stations. The facility is equipped with the latest innovations, including a semi-automatic truck rigging system that supports the highest safety standards for workers.

The Rennes area platform is part of XPO’s strategic development of its LTL operations to meet customer demand in France. The company has expanded its presence with locations across the country and has extended service to include delivery in difficult-to-access areas. The new facility will provide flexible capacity for customers in the Brittany region and support peak activities. The company has job positions open at Pleumeleuc and expects to create additional jobs in the coming years.

“We’re proud to enhance our network of 24 locations in France by adding 2,000 square metres of additional platform capacity in the strategic Rennes area, in line with similar investments throughout our network in 2017,” said Luis Gomez, managing director–transport, XPO Logistics Europe.“
