XPO Logistics, a leading global provider of transport and logistics solutions, and Solvay, a multi-specialty chemical company with global markets, held a joint workshop on October 11, 2017, in Lyon. The agenda focused on the less-than-truckload (LTL) transport of palletized goods for the chemicals sector.

More than 50 European decision makers from Solvay and XPO met to explore operating innovations for chemical supply chains, including technologies, safety advances and corporate social responsibility. The workshop concluded with a visit to XPO’s LTL agency in Jonage, one of the largest agencies of its kind in France.

“At Solvay, we always aim to develop stable and reliable partnerships with our suppliers based on shared values. These center around the environment and corporate social responsibility, and place safety at the heart of everything we do,” said John O'Shea, head of purchasing for Solvay in EMEA. “The workshop provided a venue for us to collaborate with XPO on the opportunities and challenges of our supply chain, including how our suppliers can best support our businesses and customers."

The two companies have a longstanding collaboration of more than 20 years, with XPO providing bulk and palletized transport for Solvay in Europe and the United States.

Luis Angel Gomez, managing director–transport, XPO Logistics Europe, said, “The success of this pan-European joint workshop reflects Solvay’s trust in our expertise in LTL and cross-docking for chemical goods. It was a valuable forum for our teams to exchange ideas on ways to continuously improve Solvay’s supply chain.”
